IN-COMPANY LANGUAGE TRAINING

Training and Coaching – language as a communication tool

  1. In-Company Language Training

In Company Language Training is convenient for the learner and enables the coach to integrate the learner’s professional environment most fully into the lesson. My many years in the field have furnished me with deep insights into a wide variety of business fields and work cultures.

Recent weekly in-company training has included:

  • English for the car part sector
    • After a company takeover I ran intensive courses for IT and logistics executives. I also trained the in-company call center.
  • English for the chemical industry
    • A major customer for many years, recent courses have involved technical English, technical  marketing, general business English and correspondence courses.
  • English for the consumer goods industry
    • With contracts almost too diverse and numerous to mention I’ll just list a few examples :-
      • Assessment center training.

  • English for the insurance industry
    • Having run regular weekly lessons with corporate insurance content, I won the contract to plan and teach four 3-day seminars a year, ranging from the CEF levels A2-C1.
  • Shadowing
Instead of holding lessons in a meeting room, shadowing involves the trainer looking over your shoulder as you work. The demands of the workplace form the curriculum, which is then reinforced with further tips and activities. Ideal for one-to-one and departmental courses.

ASD-STE 100 Simplified Technical English – a controlled language for writing technical documentations Issue 6 of the ASD-STE 100 specification is now available (January 2013) and my seminar has been updated accordingly.

Presentations Seminars – Seminar modules for effective presentations

Giving presentations in English can be nerve-wracking even for experienced presenters. Research has shown that the presenter can win or lose the audience’s attention within the first three minutes of speaking. It is therefore vital that the presenter feels comfortable enough to present effectively.
